March 20, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

I attended the March 20, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

Commissioners Gohagan and Dougan were present.

The County Clerk proclaimed Commissioner Gohagan as the Acting Presiding Commissioner in Ike Skelton’s absence.

The first agenda item was “Discussion with Logan Sanders from Corrective Asphalt.”

Logan Sanders from Corrective Asphalt addressed the Commission. They have been in business for 45 years and the county hired them to do a small-scale test project last year.

(I’m not an asphalt or road surface expert so forgive me if I don’t explain this correctly.)

The company used a maltene replacement process. They add a product to the road surface that stays active in the roadway for 5-7 years. The chemical process keeps moisture out of the road and helps the material to endure seasonal changes in temperature. The chemical works a half inch below the surface of the road.

Pat Wolf, the Road and Bridge Administrator, stated that this process provides a significant cost savings over using chipseal. He intends to use it this year on several county roads that received “road grades” between 50 and 60.

The seconds agenda item was “Read/review/edit Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual.”

The county is going to begin using a form that will document when property over $1,000 in value is purchased, transferred, or disposed of. These new forms will be maintained by the Auditor’s Office and have control numbers on them so departments will no longer be able to just print them out whenever they want to get equipment off their books.

The final agenda item was “Marco Printer Contracts for Auditor’s Office and HR/Payroll Offices.”

This item involved the printer contracts for the Auditor and the Payroll Department. The printers for both departments are now obsolete. The new printer contracts include maintenance and servicing. They will cost $400/month for the Auditor’s Office and $227/month for the Payroll Department.

Both printer contracts were approved unanimously.

And that was that.
