I attended the August 5, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.
All commissioners were present.

The original agenda was amended to add budget amendments.
The first agenda item was “Bid Opening – 250805 – Assessment List Printing and Mailing.”
There were no bids for the Assessor’s mailing. It seems that most companies aren’t interested in bidding on this.
Edward J. Rice Company was the vendor they used last year and the County Assessor said the pricing should be the same as it was last year. Marty said they’ve always used Rice.
The next item was Budget Amendments.
The Commission voted unanimously to move the money for the construction of the Willow Creek Bridge to the appropriate expense line.
The next amendment was to provide $26, 860 of opioid settlement money for an additional clerical employee at the Drug Court. Before they could get into much detail, Commissioner Gohagan observed that while the Willow Creek Bridge was Old Business, the issue of the clerical employee was New Business and should be posted on the agenda for a future meeting. Presiding Commissioner Skelton and Commissioner Dougan agreed so this matter was tabled for a future meeting.
The final agenda item was “Accounting Policy Review.”
There were quite a few punctuation corrections, the County Attorney’s role was added to the fraud, waste, and abuse section, time card requirements for hourly employees was stressed, and officeholders will be responsible for inventorying all of their property items that are less than $1,000. A copy of these inventories will be sent to the Auditor’s Office.
There were also no page numbers on most of the copies of the Accounting Policy which made it hard for reviewers to follow along with the changes.
The Commission voted unanimously to approve the amended Accounting Policy and Procedures Manual dated August 2025.
And that was that.
