August 21, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

I attended the August 21, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

All commissioners were present.

The first agenda item was a Planning and Zoning Meeting item, “PZ25-0098 Owens.”

This was a re-zone request from A-1 to AR at 6200 State Road J. The owner wanted to change the zoning so he could sell a smaller 3 acre parcel instead of the minimum 5 acre parcel required by A-1.

This was approved unanimously.

The second agenda item was “Bid Opening – 250821 – Transportation Treatment.”

These were bids to provide transportation services for Treatment Court.

“You Drink I’ll Drive” bid $1.30/mile. (Not sure if that’s a great name for Treatment Court transportation. Nobody wants to get dropped off at Treatment Court in a van with that printed on the side.)

Millennial Transportation Services bid $3200/month for 40 round trips per month followed by a $1.65 per mile charge.

Lakeride Pros bid $2 per mile with a minimum trip charge of $32.

(It seemed like these bids might have suffered from a Bid Request that didn’t explicitly lay out a pricing mechanism. This might make it harder to choose which bid is the best for the service.)

The Commission voted unanimously to table these bids until they could be reviewed by the Treatment Court.

The final agenda item was “1st Public Hearing – Willow Creek Road.”

Residents of Willow Creek Road have been asking the Commission to install stop signs at the intersection of Colorado Bob’s Drive and Willow Creek Road. According to them, the road is often used as a bypass for Camdenton and people drive faster than the posted 35 MPH speed limit. The road is very narrow in some areas, but visibility is especially bad at the intersection. There have been several accidents and the Camdenton School District won’t pick up kids at that intersection because it’s too dangerous.

One gentlemen used to be the Transportation Director for Camdenton School District. He advised the Commission that he never would have allowed a bus stop to be located at that spot.

Presiding Commissioner Skelton wondered if MODOT had declared the road an official bypass route? Perhaps they could help with improving the road? He felt it would be much too expensive for the county to shave down the hill right before the intersection to improve visibility. Stops signs seemed to be a much cheaper solution.

And that was that.
