I attended the September 18, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.
All commissioners were present.
The first agenda item was “Amend 9/16/25 motion regarding General Revenue tax levy.”
The tax levy was amended from the previous Commission meeting to set the Road and Bridge levy at 11 cents per $100 assessed value.
This amendment was approved unanimously.
The second agenda item was “Wastewater Variance Board Appointment.”
The Commission appointed Dakota Schaeffer to the Wastewater Board. Commissioner Gohagan told Scheaffer that the Wastewater Board was the first board he served on and he considered it “the fun board.”
The third agenda item was “Final Hearing – speed limit reduction on Purvis Road.”
One resident was present at the meeting and he asked the Commission to reduce the speed limit to 25 MPH.
Nobody was present in opposition to the change.
The Commission voted unanimously to change the speed limit to 25 MPH.
The next three agenda items were Planning and Zoning Hearing items.
(The Planning and Zoning Commission holds hearings and votes on requests to change zoning designations for property. These proposed changes are then reviewed, approved, or denied by the Camden County Commission.)
The first Planning and Zoning item was “PZ25-0106 Nicklaus- Rezone B-2 to R-1.”
The requestors were unable to attend. The PZ Commission voted 7-0 for it. There was no opposition to the re-zone.
The Commission approved it unanimously.
The second Planning and Zoning item was “PZ25-0125 South Metro Land CO LLC/Kim Hunt- Rezone B-2 to R-1.”
Hunt owns the RV Park located off Highway KK. He has two additional parcels that he wants to re-zone to R-1 because they are not suitable for use in conjunction with the RV Park and they are adjacent to other residentially zoned properties.
Nobody was opposed to the change.
The Commission approved the re-zone unanimously.
The third Planning and Zoning item was “PZ25-0129 ODL Investments South LLC/Brett Gelbach – Re-zone R-1 to B-2.”
This property was located near Redheads. They wanted to re-zone from R-1 to B-2 for a new boat dock and lift business.
Nobody was present in opposition. Some people had complained via email, but according to the Planning and Zoning representatives, they were satisfied once they were informed that the property would have to have buffer vegetation between it and the neighboring residential lots.
This re-zone was approved unanimously.
And that was that.
