December 4, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

I attended the December 4, 2025, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

All commissioners were present.

The first agenda item was “Bid opening – 251204 Sign Material Bid.”

Both Custom Products and Hall Signs were contacted. Only Custom Products submitted a bid. The representative from 911 Addressing explained that Custom Products was last year’s accepted bidder for signs. He recommended that the Commission accept the bid.

The commissioners unanimously accepted this bid.

The second agenda item was “Bid opening – 251204 Printing Bid.”

Alpha Graphics and Lake Printing were contacted, but neither company submitted a bid. Presiding Commissioner Skelton suggested that perhaps new bids should be requested with a wider net to solicit more bidders. Maybe trying services in Lebanon?

The third agenda item was “Juvenile Justice Center – Budget Amendment – $49.93.”

County Auditor Laughlin told the Commission this was for refund money that came back to the budget.

This amendment was approved unanimously.

The final agenda item was “Road & Bridge – Budget Amendment – $300,000.”

This amendment moved $300,000 from Road Damage Bonds to Cape Seal.

This amendment was approved unanimously.

This meeting was followed by a 6:00 p.m. meeting to discuss an ordinance that would authorize the use of UTV’s and ATV’s on county roads.

There was a good-sized crowd present for this evening meeting. Everyone present was in favor of the ordinance. They provided the commissioners with a wealth of information regarding how other jurisdictions handled the use of UTV’s and ATV’s. There was nobody at the meeting who opposed it.

After a discussion between the commissioners and the citizens, it was agreed that an ordinance approving the use of these vehicles on county roads should require that any vehicles be insured, meet license requirments and have certain safety equipment (turn signals, lights, etc.) that would allow them to operate safely on the roads. The ordinance would also clearly define the two types of vehicles: ATV’s and UTV’s. The ordinance would not permit their use on state highways.

And that was that.
