I attended the March 10, 2026, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

Commissioners Dougan and Skelton were present.
The meeting was held on the 3rd floor of the old Camden County Courthouse. Some people might know this building by its actual name: North Mack’s Creek.
The first agenda item was “Sheriff Budget Amendment- 83.98 (donation).”
There was a little confusion about this item because there had been a similar item on the previous meeting’s agenda. It turns out this was another donation for a different dollar amount from what was apparently a pizza party that succeeded beyond anyone’s wild expectations.
This was approved unanimously by the Commission.
The second agenda item was “EMA to present updated COOP for Camden County.”
The Emergency Management Agency Director was going to present his updated Continuity Of Operations Plan, but he was tied up at the crash of a chlorine truck. The COOP had already been reviewed by the commissioners and they both said they were satisfied with the changes.
The commissioners approved the new COOP unanimously.
The third agenda item was “Surplus Funds Request.”
This request was reviewed by the County Treasurer and the County Attorney.
The Commission unanimously approved the request.
In Old Business, Presiding Commissioner Skelton wanted to discuss the return of marijuana county sales tax money that the courts decided had been improperly collected. The money was currently set aside for Road and Bridge.
The Missouri Department of Revenue had asked Camden County for the return of $159,002.46. The county could either pay it back in a lump sum or have DOR withhold sales tax money in monthly payments for the total amount.
Skelton stated that he was inclined to pay DOR the entire amount from the marijuana tax line item in Road and Bridge’s budget and then replace that lost revenue with a transfer from the road impact fees. No decision was ultimately reached, but Presiding Commissioner Skelton suggested it should be on the agenda for a future meeting so it could be put to a vote.
The Commission then adjourned so they could go into closed session to discuss legal matters.
And that was that.
