I attended the March 19, 2026, Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.
All commissioners were present.
The first portion of the meeting was the Planning and Zoning Hearing.
The first agenda item was “PZ25-0215 Roeger Living Trust – Rezone B-2 to R-1.”
This was also related to the second agenda item, “PZ25-0216 JLSD, LLC – Rezone B-2 to R-1.”
They were heard as one item.
Joe Roeger was the owner and he told the Commission he wanted to change the lots to R-1 so they could subdivide and consolidate them with the other surrounding properties that his family owns.
There was no opposition to this rezone.
The Commissioners approved it unanimously.
The third agenda item was “PZ26-0012 Hicks- Rezone R-1 to A-R.”
Justin Hicks sent one of his employees to represent him before the Commission.
There was no opposition to the rezone.
The commissioners unanimously approved it.
The fourth agenda item was “Planning and Zoning Board Reappointments.”
Robert Shields III, Cindy Skola, and Rick Johnson were all unanimously re-appointed to the Planning and Zoning Board.
The final agenda item was “Marcus Sykora – Tourism Funds Request.”
Sykora explained that he was a member of the Camdenton Lakers booster club and the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).
A baseball tournament is scheduled to take place in Camden County in June and July. They will be playing at Ballparks National, but they also need to use the lighted fields owned by the Camdenton School District for their night games. The school district has estimated that the impact cost for the maintenance of the fields will be $35,000. The tournament director is willing to contribute $20,000 and Sykora asked if the Commission would contribute the remaining $15,000.
Heather Brown from CVB explained that the use of the Camdenton fields would allow at least 30 more teams to participate in the tournament. She conservatively estimated the economic impact of those players and their families at over $850,000.
Presiding Commissioner Skelton stated that he thought this would be a great investment and he appreciated that the tournament was willing to help pay a portion of the cost.
The Commission voted unanimously to pay the Camdenton School District $15,000 from the funds that were originally generated by the TCLA lodging tax.
At this point, the Commission voted to adjourn to a closed session to discuss personnel matters.
And that was that.
