September 29, 2022 Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

I attended the September 29, 2022 Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.

All three commissioners were present.

The meeting was held in the conference room of the Commission Annex Building. There were four people present besides the usual Camden County employees who attend.

The first agenda item was for the Sheriff MOU.

This was a School Resource Officer agreement between the Camdenton School District and the Sheriff’s Office. They are adding a SRO for the Osage Beach Elementary School. The school district will pick up the $43,570 in annual salary for the deputy and the Sheriff’s Office will cover the other costs (vehicle, uniforms, etc.). I believe the total costs for a deputy was around $76,000.

It’s actually a good deal for the Sheriff’s Office because the deputy is available for patrol duties when school isn’t in session. That means one more deputy working the road and shagging radio calls during the busy summer months.

This MOU was approved unanimously.

The last agenda item was a return of surplus money. $2,225.14 was returned for an overpayment of property taxes.

This was approved unanimously.

In Old Business, it turns out that Brian Willey has been supervising Camden County’s courthouse renovation project for two months without a contract. He can’t be paid until he has a contract. A contract was prepared, approved, and signed by the commissioners. So now Brian will finally get all of that beer money he has earned over the last 60 days.

And that was that.
