I attended the July 14, 2026, Camden County Commission meeting at 11:00 a.m.
Commissioners Skelton and Dougan were present.
The first agenda item was “Approval Ratification of 2nd Amendment to Health Department Purchase Contract.”
The second agenda item was “Order to Purchase Property on Rodeo Road w/TCLA Funds for Health Department Relocation.”
The Camden County Health Department’s old location was owned by Lake Regional and they rented the building for a nominal amount. Lake Regional now has other plans for that building so Camden County negotiated to purchase a new building for the Health Department. The new building is at 146 Rodeo Road across the street from the Camdenton Library.

According to Presiding Commissioner Skelton, the closing date for the purchase will be August 3. The county is purchasing the building with $899,000 from the TCLA Fund. The county will replace the spent funds with 108 monthly payments of $8,324 collected from the county’s base half-cent sales tax revenue. In effect, the county is giving itself an interest free mortgage for the building.
The order authorizing the withdrawal of the TCLA funds was approved unanimously.
A representative from the Treasurer’s Office also informed the Commission that the Missouri Department of Revenue has made an additional request for the return of more marijuana county sales tax. It appears that DOR will eventually get around to giving all of those dollars back to the dispensaries and their customers.
And that was that.
