I attended the April 3, 2023 Camden County Commission meeting at 10:00 a.m.
Commissioners Gohagan and Skelton were present.
This meeting was held in the conference room of the Commission Building. It was scheduled on a Monday because it was the quarterly road petition meeting.
I also discovered some good news as I walked through the parking lot. I saw trucks from Spartan Services parked there so I assume they have started remediating the lead dust that was discovered in the county courthouse!

The first road petition was for Starling Springs Road.
The buyers were present and they had recently purchased the land from the Missouri Baptist Convention. Everyone surrounding the road in the subdivision had signed off on the petition.
This petition was approved unanimously.
The second road petition was for 665 Coelleda School Road.
Nobody was present to speak for or against this petition. The commissioners reviewed the paperwork and said it needed a better legal description. This petition had been tabled at prior meetings.
The petition was tabled again.
The third road petition was 270 W. Climax Springs Park Drive.
The Keltner family was present and they stated that one of the owners, Sharon Stoner, would like the Commission to table this matter.
Commissioner Skelton mentioned that his issue with the road petition is that the signatures on the petition all seem to have been signed by the same person. Commissioner Williams said he knows the Stoner family and will talk to them.
The Keltners asked if the road should be considered a public road? They said that the deputies keep telling them that the road is closed. Commissioner Williams explained that the street is a public road until it is vacated by the county, but he stressed that he is not an attorney.
In the end, the commissioners advised them to consult with an attorney.
This road petition was tabled.
The final road petition was Porter Mill Bend Road.
The new owners were present. There was nobody present to oppose the petition.
The Commission voted unanimously to vacate the road.
And that was that.
